Leonardo Da Vinci

A wing sketched by Leonardo

The bastard child who became one of our times most prominent inventors.

He was born 1452 in Italy close to Vinci, in Toscana. He died 1519 in France. His name "Da Vinci" means "from Vinci". His full name:
Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci.

So I saw another documentary. But this one was about the painter from Italy who changed to course of time. He is mostly famous for his art but he also made alot of other thing, like weapons, flying machines and diving equipment. And he made it before 1500.

As an artist he could spend insane amount of time to perfect his art. And it really paid of. I guess they had more time in those days. I remember seeing these cartoons when I was a kid wich would show Leonardo trying to fly and having alot of problem getting it to work. I realized today that they never air such cartoons anymore. Or rather, I havent seen one since I was a kid. I learnt a great deal by watching those kinds of shows.

Some of the things he made:

The painting "Last supper" was made in Milano and took him 3 years to make.

The "Mona Lisa" thought alot smaller, this painting to took the rest of his life to make. He began painting it 1503, but didnt stop until he died by 1519. The thing about this painting is that nobody knows who she is or if she even exists. It has even been speculated if it is a selfportrait of Leonardo himself, but in the form of a woman. It was made with a then new technique where you got a cloudy effect.

Even tought he never solved the mysteri of flight he paved the way for other brilliant mind such as the Wright brothers. He made many attempts to make it. He observed birds and calculated how they manage to fly. This doesnt seem that hard, but without the use of photos or video it becomes nearly impossible.

Another thing that makes this man stand out is that during all his life, there is only one picture of him. And it has no title so its not certain that it actually is him. It is seen as a selfportrait of Leonardo as an old man with a beard.

So this is the second man Ive written about who had a big influence on the evolution of technologi in the world. There is, among his achivements, alot of mysteries. And these have led til, not only cartoons, but books aswell. One book wich later was made into a movie, called "The Da vinci code".

Shoedesign to be extra proud of

Probably the coolest shoes you've ever seen

One should allways do all ones work during the middle of the night. Stuff tends to get a bit better that way.

Nikola Tesla

Teslas lab in Colorado springs

ok, so I saw one of the Tesla documantaries again today. I must say that he was probably the smartest man ever lived. What he did for humanity is unbelievable.

Some of the things he did:

On 6 June 1884, Tesla first arrived in the United States, in New York City with not alot more than a letter of recommendation from Charles Batchelor, a former employer. The letter of recommendation was ment for Thomas Edison, it said,
"I know two great men and you are one of them; the other is this young man"

Tesla started working for Edison and he quickly progressed to solving some of the company's most difficult problems. But he resigned when he was declined a paycheck from Edison.

He formed the basis for alternating current.

in 1887, Tesla starts inventing what we call X-ray today.

in 1895, After a fire wich destroyd all his equipment, models and inventions Tesla invented and patented the tesla generator. A maskin wich was capable of transmitting wireless information. (More or less the first version of the radio)

It has been said that he ones created a smaller earthquake from his apartment.

Later he wanted to create a "world system". Also a wireless system, but this one capable of transmitting wireless energi. This would have ment that we could send electricity through the air and without the use of wires and for example light a lightbuld without the slightest tought. He claimed to have come very close too, but his investor didnt want to fund the project anymore and it got laid down.

After a while a rumor spread that Telsa was creating a sort of "death ray" and was trying to sell it back to Austria were he came from. (He said it was ment for ending war)

So this man basically gave man a push that changed the world for all time. Without him we wouldnt have had illumination in our homes, Radio or TV. And if he was given a chance to extend his ideas furthur our society would have been much more advanced.

(or if the rumors were right and he acctually were trying to build a death ray, we might not even be alive by now)

Nevertheless he is and will continue to be my rolemodel.

movies that reminded me of my biggest inspiration...

So I just saw "127 hours".
I remember a discussion I had with a girl I dated A couple of years back where I told her about one of my greatest dreams. To travel to nowhere, alone for a long time. It might not have been the best and most romantic thing to say to a girl youve been dating for a couple of weeks, eventhough I probably thought so. Her reaction was not really what I had expected and as I recall that was the only time she actually got mad at me. Ofcourse did it not change my mind, It rather made the vocie in the back of my head scream louder and my dream, so much bigger.
Thats why one of my favorite quotes is:

"Lets find a beautifull place to get lost"

My biggest inspiration is nature. I allways love being for myself... Or I thought that I did. In reality I love being alone with nature. I know that alot of people say, wich makes it so weird why so few takes that leep into the wild for real. Im not talking about just packing a bag and live in a tent for two or three nights a couple of miles from home. Im talking about leaving everything and finding yourself in a place youve never been. Creating storys, adventures to, as a bonus, you can tell to your friends.
You probably realise by now that I liked the movie. Its based on a true story about Aron Ralston and his remarkable adventure in a canyon in Utah. And thats about how much I will tell. This movie is really easy to spoil, so stay away from any trailer you might stumble into.

Other movies wich reminded me of my biggest inspiration:
- Into the wild
- Cast away
- Catch me if you can
- Taking woodstock

I want to end this post by anouncing that Im preparing for a trip into the wilderness...

Beginning of a mobilephonerender.
